Matching luminances (cd/m2) using Light Meter

Dear Group,

Can a light meter such as the Sekonic L-508 be used to determine the luminance coming from a laptop (which only has slider brightness adjustment without numbers) and also the ambient conditions in trying to match these levels?

I see not conversion and this meter does not show Lux or cd/m2. I seem to remember my Pentax Spotmeter V had these Cine levels.
