I'm working on a CMYK profile for special purposes, it requires K ink
all the way up the scale. I've tried-
Separation- set to MaxK
Black Start- set to 0
Black- set to 100
Black Width- set at 100 (Max)
and hit the Balance Black point button
When converting RGB neutrals to this profile, there is an unexpected
(and in this case undesirable) amount of CMY present (not well done I
might add, lots of crossover). I would have thought a vast majority of
K, with some presence of maybe 2 colors to to neutralize the K ink that
is never quite neutral. Is my reasoning is incorrect?
If I lower total ink, obviously less CMY will be available, however if
one is to believe the visual representation of the curves in PM 4 it
seems to be making no CMY available in the highlights with low settings,
perhaps I'm reading too much into that.
Anyway, is there a way to force a major predominance of K ink in
neutrals when using a MaxK setting with altered PM4x settings?
Thank you,
Tyler
