I am at a client with a Creo Spectrum. And as I measure the solid ink
densities (SID) from the CMYK off of this device I am reading what I
consider to be a very low yellow density of .70. I would expect a printing
press to have the solid yellow at least at a density of 1.0.
This low yellow density is also being verified in the ICC profile.
I am also told that since the Spectrum is digital the SIDs cannot be
adjusted without changing the sheets of CMYK pigments. Right now the lower
density sheets are being used.
The real problem is that this device does not profile well at this moment.
But I have only been there one day.
I have made a few profiles and they are not that good in terms of saturation
and matching other files (that used profiles for color separation) this
client has printed in the past.
This client considers the Spectrum to be their internal printing press, so
the files are color separated using the spectrum profile. Then after every
one in the process looks at and oks the Spectrum prints, the files get
sent to a press.
Can any one comment on how to get more yellow density out of this device?
Or can anyone provide a tip about how to get more color saturation out of
this device when it is profiled?
Today I was using am using Gretag PM v5. Tomorrow I will use both Greatag
and Monaco.
Thanks
Jim Rich
