Hi all
A question and my answer which I am not certain is right, so any other
comments welcome.
On opening a Lab image in Photoshop there is no warning, as there would be
if there is no or a differing RGB or CMYK profile. (This assumes that you
have the colour settings 'set' to do this.)
So you hope that you have been told they are Lab or spot the info when
opening the image!
So to the question, how does the Lab image display correctly, assuming an
calibrated/profiled screen. If an unprofiled RGB/CMYK is opened with no
profile attached Photoshop has to display it in some way and uses the
relevant profile from 'Color Settings' to display the image.
What does it use to display Lab, can I assume that as Lab is the PCS in the
CMM, this is what Photoshop uses, and the image is displayed correctly? On
working with Lab images into RGB and CMYK this seems to be what is
happening.
