I apply the profile as an assign profile over the images that were input as
Adobe RGB tags. I have profiled on RAW and jpg Adobe RGB but prefer for
workflow reasons to profile over jpg. The jury is out. I shot 300 some
catalogue photos last weekend and it produces color closer to the scene yet
the Canon jpg's have a lot more punch even if the colors are not always
right. Canon seem to have problems in reds that can be improved with
profiles. It makes you wonder though how much you are damaging the image by
throwing a profile in between image editing.
I heard that Phase One allows using a camera profile in the workflow so the
images go from raw to camera profile without this , yet sooner or later the
profile had to be created on something, hence the upfront profile from raw
is needed in any case.
