Thank you Mike and Nurinder.
If I read Nurinder's reply, and the ICC specification that Mike
pointed me to (specifically page 62 of version 4.1.0), correctly then
I shouldn't have any problem creating version 4 profiles with
internal names of 128 characters or less.
Indeed, the way I read the specification, the internal names of
version 4 profiles can be longer than the printed documentation that
comes with most software packages these days. That was a surprise.
I just glanced at the version 3.4 description. As I read it the
internal name length can be as long as that of a version 4 profile,
so long as it is _not_ in Unicode. That makes no sense, so I must be
reading it wrong.
I'm going to punt and assume that there won't be a problem with
creating files that have internal names that are less than or equal
to the the length of allowed filenames on OSX and WinXP. (255 or 256?
Anyway, I don't intend to use more than I have to, and hope to use
less than 128.).
Someone _please_ correct me if that assumption is wrong.
Thanks again,
-=-Dennis
