Kim,
I use Newcolor and have experienced the same thing when using BasICColor Scan to make profiles.
After a number of emails between Heidelberg and ICS Color a solution was provided to me. It involves switching a 0 to 1. I asume it will work for a Profilemaker profile. I have some screen shots that help explain the steps but I am not sure if I can attach files to this list so I will do my best with text.
In order to tell if a scanner profile is set as a transmissive scanner profile, look in the description tag of the profile in the Colorsync utility.
If the the first 8 character # of the Device Attributes field is 00000001 the the profile is defined as transmissive. If it is not, you can change it by editing the profile in HexEdit.
When you open the profile in HexEdit you will get a window full of numbers. The value that needs to change is in row 4 (000000030) column 12.
A reflective profile will have the value set to 00 change it to 01 and the profile will be seen as a transmissive profile.
All the credit for this solution goes to Bob Burnett at ICS.
