Based on my time at Kodak, the IT8 targets were measured on a lab bench
spectrophotometer system. I forget the make and model of the
spectrophotometer itself. It's been a while! The actual 35mm targets,
whether Kodachrome or Ektachrome, were measured on the system, NOT a
representative larger target. The spectrophotometer was on a rail which
allowed the spectrophotometer to move closer or farther away from the
target, so that measurements of different size targets could be made.
Have a good weekend!
