Is desktop background picture color managed?

  • Subject: Is desktop background picture color managed?

Hi,

I am just doing some experiments on my Mac OS/X 10.3.8 Mac Mini with a
CRT monitor attached to it (via analog VGA).

For some reason beyond the scope of this email I would like to have a
desktop background image (with an attached source profile) that shall be
displayed using the monitor profile.

For some reason at least the monitor profile is completely ignored (I
have prepared a monitor profile such that it's color is substantially
off - as a consequence  the color on the monitor should be 'off' as well;
I do know that my 'off' profile works as expected, as Photoshop will
render an image as expected).

Am I expecting something that doesn't work anyway, or am I missing
something in the setup?

Olaf Druemmer
