A quote from Bruce Lindbloom:
"A final word to the 16-bit Advocates that have taken Dan [Margulis]'s bait
in the past: Shame on you! You should know better than to get enticed into
such a fiasco without doing your homework first. The challenge is set up as
a self-fulfilling prophecy you are guaranteed to lose."
(Please read Bruce Lindbloom's very enlightening article,
"Dan Margulis' 16-bit Challenge", at:
I wish I had read Bruce's piece earlier. It would have saved some of the
time I spent actually believing that Margulis' was an honest argument made
with an open mind, subject to commonly accepted rules of evidence and
fairness, instead of a game played with a stacked deck, whose rules change
arbitrarily and unaccountably at the whim of the challenger.
Still, I think that it was not a waste of time to make the point in this
discussion board about the inherent relative weakness of the 8-bit structure
compared to a genuine (yes, "non-bogus") 16-bit architecture. Pragmatic
reasonable people with no axe to grind do respond to logic and evidence, and
are none too impressed by someone who just keeps tilting at windmills.
Thank you.
