Normally when you calibrate an LCD screen you put in a target luminance
value. So to compare two screens they would need to have been profiled with
exactly the same target values. i.e. the same white point & luminence. You
can increase the colour range by increasing the brightness of the lamp in an
LCD, but over a certain point your screen white becomes less like your paper
white. Gretagmacbeth recommend 140cd/m2 as the target luminance for LCDs.
