I have a flexo job that's hitting deadline that the plate-maker can't
get right. This same design has been running for twenty years, but the
new plate-maker, Southern Graphics, can't seem replicate it. They're
losing the dot at about 25%, which I just can't understand. E-mails
have been shooting back and forth, and now we have a conference call
coming up to try to resolve the matter. However, from an e-mail that
was forwarded to me, Southern is thinking of trying a different screen
technique - a Somba screen. I've never heard of it, and can't find any
reference to it on the web. Anybody know what a Somba plate is?
An e-mail reference follows...
"I do not see any problem with talking to the Customer. We do need to
know what Menasha expects on the film and plate and what they can print.
As it stands now the file we have is the best we can get. If we go to
Somba screen (Groovy Screen), I do not know there spec. and what the
design will look like."
What's a "Somba screen (Groovy Screen)"?
