Sorry, not my experience here with several LVTs. Sure your
material/filter setup was optimal? Especialy in the highlights you
can control the LVT colors even more precissly as the output
resolution of the recorder is much better and the lab develops more
stable. The problem you might have is, that the calibration software
and the X-Rite densitometer shipped with the LVT are not accurate
enough close to the "edges". The densitometer sometimes makes a
"jump" of 0.01 or 0.02 when reading the calibration strip. The normal
calibration procedure of the recorder is not really good at the edges
especialy when your aim file is getting close to dmin/dmax. I also
had problems controlling colors in the highlights with this - but
even more with the very dark shadows. I now use a calibration strip
with 72 patches and a measuring device with a much smaller
reproduction fault. It really makes a visible difference. You can
profile these devices with a max fault of dE 1 (in practice you need
a VERY good lab to do that, but the LVT is really stable/accurate
enough to do that).
