They used to benefit from it. It was called *repro* - you might remember it?
It has been replaced by Acrobat, ISO profiles and "convert to cmyk" in
Photoshop.
A photographer bullshitting that he knows something about CMYK and a printer
who employs a kid who once read a Photoshop manual doesn't really make up
for the loss of a whole sector of the print industry...
The *client* needs to be convinced that it is necessary to pay more for
higher quality output.
They don't give a shit because it's more lucrative to print sub-standard
work and claw back discounts from the designers, photographers and printers
who have stupidly accepted responsibility for things that they know nothing
about.
