Given that profiling is not a perfect science, is it not unconceivable that
a colour at or near the gamut surface of the source profile, could be
reproduced out side this space in the destination device but still be within
a numerical tolerance, but appear noticeably cleaner.
This could only happen if the ink jet substrate is whiter that the press
stock, and there is either no paper simulation (Rel) or an inadequate one.
I would agree with a previous posting that the key to this issue is probably
the White Point of the press profile and matching the stock colour on your
proof
