Could be as simple as that particular color being outside the gamut
of your printer's RIP/ink/media combination. It's not necessarily a
given that an inkjet profile is going to have a larger gamut than a
press. In fact, I find that magenta/reds can be particularly
challenging with the Epson Ultrachrome inks as compared to other
areas of the color gamut such as greens and blues. And the paper
you're using isn't helping. The Epson Proofing Paper Semimatte is not
particularly known for it's color gamut, particularly in achieving a
good max density. Another area could be the RIP. It's possible that
the Best v5 RIP you're using was a bit too aggressive in it's ink
limiting when the baselin was created (I'm assuming you created your
own custom baselin). If you have the "Premium" version, you can go in
and customize the per-channel ink limits to possibly achieve a larger
color gamut. If you're printing at 720x720, you might try going to
1440x720 (more ink will get laid down) and see if that increases the
color gamut, after you've created a new baselin and profile of course.
Bottom line, if ColorThink shows that color being out-of-gamut for
your inkjet's ink/media combination, it probably is!
Cheers,
Terry
