This might be a metameric problem. Inkjet ink and laser printer toner
like to turn a little red under 6500K light but will be the same in
5000K. Did you check different light situations ?
You might also have a blue-ish paper (UV-ray reactive paper likes to
fool measurement units to see more blue than there is in reality). A
CMS will try to correct this by adding red to highlights. Use a
profile editor to edit your white point. Your problems might be solved.

My challenge is that a light red color on the images proof sheet
appears to be outside the gamut of the press. I know if all
the tolerances are met between the chart press run and the images
press run that this should not happen. Colors can not
match, as I am finding out, but they should as least be within the
color gamut.
