I have noticed the same thing with a Nikon D2X, the blue noise increases
when using tungsten white balance.
Looking at the histogram for different color temperature settings, it seems
that a warmer (lower K) setting stretches the blue channel more and thus
brings out the blue channel noise more. With a temperature of 1000K this
would be even more obvious.
If you are using noise reduction then perhaps it would make sense if the
noise reduction was applied before any color temperature corrections. I am
not sure what raw conversion software would allow for that kind of control.

I don't believe that this has anything to do with the color temp. of the
lighting.
Please tell us the shutter speed for the two exposures.
My guess is that your shot with hot lights was quite long with respect to
the daylight exposures.
The longer the exposure the more thermionic noise build up in any digital
camera.
The Aptus will do an automatic dark frame subtraction for any exposure over
1 second. This subtracts out any fixed pattern noise.
I am not sure how the Phase system deals with this.
I have a Leaf Valeo 22 and a Canon 5D.

both the Phase One P25 and the Leaf Aptus 22 Digital backs. Shooting in
incandescent light (a 1K hot light), I notice that even when using a grey
card for color correction, there is significant noise in the shadows when
shooting at 400 iso.

the Epson 9600, using either "canned" profiles or profiles I have made
myself. As I do not see nearly as much noise in the shadows when shooting
daylight color temp, or when using daylight strobes, I was wondering if
anyone can shed some light (arrgh) on this issue - and suggest corrective
action, either in capture or print phase.
