Thanks for doing the test pics, I was just tired of this thread, but with
these results even if its a consumer cam
(which do have more noise compared to backs, as soon as you go up from their
native sensitivity )
I guess there is not much more to say now. The pics do speak for themselves.
This will be even more apparent when you use 400 ASA, and as intriguing as
it is this will be
as apparent with highend backs, so anybody can decide by themselves if it´s
worth loosing some f-stops
or having longer exposure times.

Intrigued by the thread on using a Wratten filter to reduce noise in
digital pix I decided to run a little test.
You can see the results here:

If you download the image and cycle through the channels you can see
that the blue channel has a more uniform - less blotchy noise profile in
the Wratten balanced pic than in the in-camera white balanced pic.
With the Wratten I lost 2 stops in exposure.
