Visually linear L* Gamma ?

Hello everybody,

I have been looking for a good profiling software for LCD/TFT monitors recently. One reseller is arguing that BasICColor Display has a advantage what comes profiling TFT monitors and it is called L*. He could not really explain it to me, though. I´m kind of confused about this and the only thing that I found from their website without asking via e-mail is this:

"basICColor display is the ONLY software that calibrates monitors to a visually LINEAR state. All other solutions tweak the gradation using a gamma function."

Do you folks know more about this visually linear thing? I understood that it is different thing from linear gamma... <headache> sigh... </headache>.
I´d love to hear something from you listmembers before getting salestalk from the company itself. Mayby some of their techpeople are reading this list and can answer here?

Sincerely,
