Also, Image Capture does not recognize my scanner. It just says,
"No Image Capture device connected."
Likely what's happening is that one of the other scanner drivers, the
LaCie or Epson's own software, is preventing Image Capture from
seeing the scanner. The scanner can only communicate with one driver
at a time, it's not a great architecture but that's how scanners
work. The Epson 4870 should be recognized by Image Capture, unless
you have an older version of MacOSX. You might try to uninstall the
other software if there's a way to do that, reboot and see if Image
Capture sees the scanner. Image Capture does have a built in
scanning UI, and can be used for both cameras and scanners.
