Epson 4870 scanner
That scanner is supported natively in Tiger, but not in Panther. You
also have to be careful which version of the TWAIN software you
download, there are several versions on Epson's website. If you have
Tiger you don't need to install any other software, just hook up the
4870 it'll work. As a sidenote though, it's not necessary to have
the scanner appear as a device in the ColorSync Utility window, there
are other ways to use profiles besides that. You can embed a profile
into scanned image file with some of the scripts in /Library/
ColorSync/Scripts, or assign a source profile if you're editing them
in Photoshop, and in Tiger you can assign profiles and match from one
profile to another in Preview.
