I've never measured a black ramp yet to be neutral at mid point and always
a shift at the shadow end. The composite grey can repro a similar color as
the K ramp yet has a more contone look at least with AM screens.

This is the way I read it. In GRACoL 6, the idea was to shoot for 50% gain
of 18%=Y, 20% = C&M, and 22% =K. This new method, I guess aims still for
22% for K but tweaks CMY for a neutral gray and let the gain fall where it
lands.
I don't know this is what I am asking.
Anyone tried this yet?
ps. What I *have* tried is proofing a the GRACoL target sheet (38x25) to
the TR004 data set with adverage dE of primaries and secondaries on less
than 1 and an adverage of of 3 something and when compared to same sheet
imaged to the ECI ISOCoated profile makes me not want to show the sheet for
it's horrible gray balance. The curves (at least the yellow) should have
been smoothed with some kind of spline interpolation.
