Dude, lighten up. Personally, I think the accessory kit is worth it.
This is my first experience (at a customer I sold one to) with the
Pulse and, frankly, I find it superior to the Eye-One. It's whole strip
reading scheme seems to be much more reliable than the Eye-One, much
less sensitive to operator technique (too fast/too slow) compared to
the Eye-One. Being able to take your measurements untethered and then
dumping it into the software is really pretty cool. No more $#*%! USB
cables to get in the way while taking the measurements.
If I didn't have too many auto-scanning instruments as it is, I'd
consider adding the Pulse Color Elite RGB+CMYK + OPTIX XR to my own
color toolbox. Only annoyance is not being able to easily import the
Pulse data into MonacoPROFILER for a bit more black control when
building CMYK profiles.
Two thumbs up for the Pulse.

with success in re-measuring my (old) 24 patch macbeth chart.
It's worth noting that this optional accessory kit, which consists of a
couple pieces of plastic, a cheap handbag and some essentially useless
software, is an extra $200 no matter which Pulse package you buy. It's
nothing but a scam to get people to give them a lot of money for the
backing
board in my opinion. I just had a local plastics shop cut me out a
hunk of
white Comatex and put some little rails on it instead.
