It is done purely in software and there is no second infrared pass, but
there's also no associated slowdown or global loss of sharpness from what
I've seen. Neither solution is really an acceptable alternative to human
retouching for large blemishes, so I don't really see the lack of ICE being
as big of a dealbreaker as having to wet mount everything is.
