And what you are suggesting is conceptually what Dennis did, except he is
in a CMYK color proofing workflow.

I agree with your comments . But it seems you are thinking about this as a
scanning to print workflow and not a CMYK color proofing workflow as Dennis
is. The type of thing Dennis is doing, is done is rips all of the time.

As for using LAB. Sure that is an option, but that just causes another
conversion and it sounds like it would cause more work in a CMYK workflow.
But then, I am not there so I don't know all of the details.
