I would not necessarily rely on the eye-one for color temperature readings.
I was visiting with Bob McCurdy at GTI. My experience with my own GTI
lighting is that the eye-one reported approximately 4800 K for a GTI
variable intensity light box. When the intensity was turned down (a normal
setting for use with a monitor), the eye one reported that the color
temperature dropped to about 4600 K, which should make it appear warmer. But
visually, both Bob and I felt that it appeared bluer, indicating higher
color temperature. Bop got his Minolta color meter and measured it, and it
confirmed what our lying eyes saw: the color temperature rose as the
intensity dimmed.
I'm not criticising the eye-one - it's just that I have seen so many intra
instrument disagreements that I take them with a grain of salt.

sorry about that... not meaning to put words in anyone's mouth, just wanting
to clear up possible confusion.

I took the "you've got metamerism even though...higher CRI" as a direct
comparison between Just and GTI illuminants but I find the logic unclear -
the metamerism is between Just and GTI but CRI is between Just and D50?
does this (my confusion) make sense?
I'm still curious about how each compares to D50...

Steve
