Hi All,
I try not to bug this list much unless I really need help and I keep up
with most of the posting and have had great help from this list before.
The problem (if you can call it that) that I am having is in Proof
Setup in Adobe Photoshop CS. I am getting ready for a press job that I
have to send out and they have notified me that converting any RGB
files to US Sheetfed Coated v2 (in Photoshop) is the correct way to
send these files – the final files are Illustrator files.
So my question is how much difference is there between Adobe (1998) and
US Sheetfed Coated v2? I know I am comparing RGB to CMYK but the
reason is because of Proof Setup. When I go to Proof Setup/Custom/US
Sheetfed Coated v2 I DO NOT see any difference in my image while
toggling the Preview button back and forth. This is the case with all
the RGB work I have – no difference…
So, are my images simply ranging within a small gamut space and not
needing any adjustment or am I not selecting something I should be? I
am on an Mac using OSX 10.3 with a Sony Artisan calibrated to 6500,
2.2, 1:400. My RGB Color Space is Adobe (1998) and my Proof Setup
settings are as follows:
Preserve Color Numbers – OFF
Intent – Relative Colorimetric
Black Point Comp – ON
Paper White – OFF
Ink Black – OFF
The press will be printing on coated gloss paper with a flood matt
varnish. Is there anything above that I am doing wrong or is this
simply a job that is within the gamut of US Sheetfed Coated v2?
Shouldn’t there be some difference though? Why does the RGB look just
like the CMYK on Preview?
Please Help and Thank You,
Cody Thomas
