Quicktime 7 colour interpretations

Hi, I am using a program which converts image files using quicktime technology to 2 thumbnail sizes. Can anyone tell me how quicktime does this as when it converts the colours are not quite the same? Can anything be changed to make it convert colours more accurately so it matches how the image looks in photoshop?
