I'd definitely advice to upgrade to the GretagMacbeth SG chart. I've done pretty comprehensive tests (Implementation really) with The National Art Gallery here in Denmark ( www.smk.dk) using both the SG and DC ColorChecker. SG came out slightly on top. It's not a done deal with a camera profile for artwork reproduction though. You need to work a lot with different settings in regard to contrast and saturation, and probably do some selective edits as well, based on shots of a wide range of original art.
This should get you pretty close, but there will still be manual edits nessesary due to the varying pigments in the artwork (metamerism) and the "fun" effect that many paintings seem to reveal more detail depending on the lightlevel viewed in.
