Well, just to update those of you kind enough to have posted suggestions to
my query yesterday about 2 profiles from 2 different people creating very
similar problems...
1) Client cleaned heads, created new test prints using the i1 TC 9.18 RGB
Testchart and I created a profile. Client reports 30% improvement but still
not professionally usable with posterisation problems lessened but not gone.
2) 2 other test charts were made using Photorealistic setting in the driver
and both 1.8 and 2.2 gamma. Client reports that he is surrounded by similar
looking but subtly different prints none of which are usable.
3) Suggested to client that he go and use the Granger Rainbow, et al
synthetic charts which he will do to test if the probs appear on synthetic
images.
4) I also suggested that he download the test version of ImagePrint to see
if that cleared up the problem (ie, take the driver out of the loop)
5) I also suggested that he try a different paper, create colour targets and
I'd try to profile that paper, ie, is the media type and paper somehow
interacting poorly on his particular printer.
6) As mentioned, I don't have ProfileMaker pro so I can't make a huge target
to create a profile but I referred him to two colour specialists in London
who could.
Sad, I really wanted to have that feeling of satisfaction from solving an
intractable problem, but intractable seems to have won this battle.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions, if my client finds a solution and lets
me know, I'll pass it on for posterity.
Cheers,
Eric
