Many of the seasoned color experts who contribute to this list find
themselves having to edit profiles. Reprofiling, as you suggest, simply
doesn't cut it.

I doubt there's any profiling package available that produces spot-on
profiles every time and in every situation. Editing proiles, therefore, is
needed on occasion. Posts to this list seem to support this.

I don't believe any alarm was triggered. There are, however, several of us
who simply want a better, deeper understanding of color management and how
to approach profile editing. Some are even willing to pay for it. Your
post suggests that you are not; thanks for sharing. Furthermore, I feel
you're off the mark in suggesting that color management specialists active
on this list manufacture alarm in an effort to rake in tuition at
conferences or fees for their consulting.

I agree. And some of us want that level of knowledge someday. And while a
single book or seminar may not teach us everything we need (or want) to
know, it certainly would be useful in introducing fundamentals, shaping an
approach to the topic, and putting us on the right path for future
investigation.

Would any GM employees or others in-the-know like to comment on this?
