Title: RBG printer profiling - i1 Match vs ProfileMaker Pro
What really is the difference between this part of these two applications? I understand they use the same device (albeit the latter can obviously accommodate different devices). The RGB targets for both are, I think, the same. Match uses a TC9.18 target with, unsurprisingly, 918 patches and Pro uses TC9.18 with 1100 patches but the extra patches are accounted for by the first row and the first two and the last columns in the target tiff, ie a bunch of straight green, blue, white or pure black patches. The only relevant difference in the reference files are the following instructions for the Pro:
LGOMCCMYKSEPARATION "UseCMYKSep = true Separation = { SepID = 6 StartK ='40' WidthK = '1' MaxC = '100' MaxM = '100' MaxY = '100' MaxK = '100' MaxCMYK = '400' } "
Measurement_mode "correlate"
CORR_COLORANTS_COUNT "2"
I suspect it may not even be hard to run the Pro reference file through Match (it is easy enough to get Match to use the higher “patch” Pro LCD reference file for monitor calibration). As a result, setting profile editing off to one side for a second ;-) I am struggling to see how the Pro package generates a better profile than Match. Clearly the instructions above are key.
Steve
