Now someone has to say explain how editing a profile will help a non-linear
printer. As I understand it, linearising really just gives us confidence
that depiction by sample (as opposed to measuring response to every possible
colour value) can work - ie that can interpolate with a degree of
confidence. If your printer isn't linear then you don't know what to edit
to unless you know the device's response to each and every possible input.
