No, our friends at Gretag and X-Rite are certainly not idiots. Without them
we would be in high water. I thank them deeply every day.
But they also know how to market their wares, and a if a profile editing
package sells, then they will provide one. But as is the case with so many
other things, just because it's there it doesn't mean that you *must* use
it.
