Let me take this opportunity to pay homage to Dr. Hell and all that he gave
us in his lifetime. It seems like much of his work has been temporarily
abandoned with the 'new' methods of profiling but it is still valid and
worthwhile science. The old ways have a lot of value, particularly when we
talk about edits. I don't think anyone has influenced my color world more
than he.
If you look at current move towards balancing the grays to achieve sensible
press control/profiling, you see that it was common sense based on Dr.
Hell's work (and some of us, thanks to him, have been performing this
miracle all along).
Regards,
Daniel Westcott
