It was a hp scotch affaire before with the old editions to get any custom
profiling done. The new EFI code is 100% rewritten and truly cross platform.
For once I can say this is a true dual platform software. I've used it on
Windows XP SP2 and all OsX's including Tiger with zero config problems and
zero differences in color or calibrations. It even works as networked
printers in EITHER directions which is unique compared to many other rip
makers. Profiling is straight forward, and personalisation is also quite
easy. It's not a production rip for multi purposing separations but a design
studio's rip which borders on fairly accurate press simulations. It comes
with a fairly large choice of profiles for HP and third party medias. It is
not a photographic rip as Image Print is yet that is not the optimisation
you search. Some colleagues suggest Proofmaster as it has both photographic
output and prepress abilities according to them.
The HP DJ 90 btw is an 18x24" sheet size or 18" roll feed. It's the HP DJ
30 which is 13x19 which can be jimmy rigged with a PVC roll holder for those
wanting a small format printer that will pay for itself over an Epson
22/2400 within just a few cartridge changes as the DJ printers are the most
frugal printer in their class by far.
