>Although the i1 TC 9.18 RGB Testchart is untagged,
am I right in assuming that the i1 software
(combined with printing it out through Preview
standard setting)
prints it out properly
for Spectrophotometer profiling purpose?>
If you're printing directly from the i1Match software, the only thing you need to do is ensure color management is turned off in the driver and select your other specific settings (paper type, resolution, ect). This can be done from the dialog that opens up when you click "print".
>And, what if it is printed through Photoshop CS?
Would I need to make sure that the Color Settings
are set up any specific way, and/or assign a profile
to the chart.>
You'll want to print the target as it is...untagged. From Photoshop CS, use Print with Preview. with your Color Management Source Space set to Document (untagged RGB in this case), and your Print Space set to Same as Source. When you hit print, you'll get a dialog from which you can disable the driver color management, and select paper type, ect. You can save those settings for future use.
Printing this way will ensure that the the target under goes no conversions, other than the un-turnoffable conversion the driver will make when printing without a Rip. After you create your profile, choose it as the Print Space.
>I have heard that Colormatch provides the closest
space for
the Epson R2400 printer's conversion from rgb to cmyk?
Is that accurate?>
Perhaps, I'm not familiar with the gamut of the R2400, but you wouldn't want to assign a profile to the TC 9.18 target itself. You could certainly use Colormatch as a working space for your images, but the R2400 isn't the only device out there, so maybe a more robust working space would be better (AdobeRGB, LStarRGB, ProPhotoRGB).
