Neither I nor Epson mentioned the word 'linearization'. AFAIK this new
utility is simply correcting any printer to printer variation so that when
you use the standard Epson profile for your Epson paper, your machine is
working to the same spec as the one that Epson used to make that profile. It
should do away with the need for custom profiles if you are using Epson
paper and ink. If you are using 3rd party paper and ink, then I can't see
how this is going to be of any use to you.
If anyone knows better, let him/her speak!

Okay, for a relative newcomer, can anyone explain the relationship between
this linearization, and profiling?
Since linearization appears to affect the driver, is it useful in
conjunction with profiles? Would it work with both the Epson OEM profiles,
and custom profiles? Or would there be some interaction with one or the
other that might cause issues? How does the driver manage a different
linearization for each paper and resolution?
