Title: Re: Theory versus practice
Steve,
Thanks again for you detailed
answer.
I am still unclear as to what
specific components are at play in the process that you are describing, but I
suspect, because you mention a RIP that you are describing the behaviour of a
third party device. My example is
restricted simply to Photoshop to Epson via the Epson Driver.
I am assuming that the process
that you are describing as same as source workflow in which the driver
interprets file data as ink levels, applies only to printing with black
ink. Since it is switching to black
ink that forces the auto colour adjust printing mode, and since same as source printing with colour ink
allows for no colour adjust.
Since same as source printing of
files in their output profile with colour ink produces absolutely identical
results with samples sent from the workspace using the same profile. I interpret this to mean the printer is
completely passive in same as source printing with no colour adjust
Also since the auto colour mode
automatically shuts down colour management, I am unable to understand the difference
between what you are calling same as source workflow and simply printing using
the auto colour adjust mode.
thanks
Eugene
