I can confirm that issue...pattern occurring around the 50% area
checkerboard with Euclidean @ 45 degrees, 175lpi/2400dpi. For this
reason (and others) we output our black at 45 degrees rather than the
magenta, and the issue is much less noticeable. I obviously don't see
this issue in fleshtones anymore. I can see it occurring in the black
midtone area to a slight degree, but its masked over by other
separations in nearly all images. I've also played around with imaging
the black sep (again, at 45 degrees) at a higher lpi, and the pattern
certainly can be lessened by doing this. Of course, switching to a round
or elliptical dot shape will likely help with this as you don't get the
checkerboard problem.
