Steve,
Whether or not you can even profile your camera in part depends on
whether you are shooting RAW, and if so, what software you use for
RAW conversions. For example, if you shoot Nikon and use Nikon
Capture, Capture will make internal conversions to an output profile
of your choice, but you have no access to the internal (camera)
profiles, and you cannot "turn color management off." Anything you
convert from RAW will be converted to an output profile. Adobe
Camera Raw works in a somewhat analogous manner - you can't output a
RAW file that has not been converted to an output profile, nor can
you replace the internal profiles. My understanding is that you can
use camera-specific profiles with Phase One's Capture One, but I have
only played with that software a short time and I can't really
comment on it much.
As someone else mentioned, you can calibrate ACR for individual
cameras using Thomas Fors' excellent script - best of all, it's
free. It will be interesting to see how Aperture handles color
management. Someone mentioned that it uses the ColorSync utility.
The moment I heard that, the warm, fuzzy feeling was drained out of
me. Let's hope for the best.

Just looking for feed back on some Camera profiling
software. We are looking to get into this alittle and
curious what others are using. I have used Incamera
Professional about 4 years ago and that seemed to be
OK. We have Gretag Macbeth Profile Maker 5.0 but do
not have the camera profiling modual. So I was looking
for input on that as well. Also seen the new Apple
Aperture but that does not appear to really be a
profiling software. Any suggestion will be
appreciated.
