I agree it may sound they have a patent on something and I have a hard time
finding an english word above that reads "patent". Whathever it is, let's
call it a Transfer function (like gamma), as Peter from Quatto wrote a while
ago, we have to give credit to the basICcolor team to have developped this
idea into a workable solution. Glad to see Eizo adopting it. What about the
Mitsubishi folks? And GretagMacbeth? And X-Rite? And ColorVision? Where do
they all stand relative to L* calibration?
