Exactly what it is they think they have a patent for is never
specified.
In addition to the quote above, earlier in the description they state:
"Why are we making a big deal out of Remote Director? Remote Soft
Proofing is the holy grail of the print house of the future. Being able
to sign off on a “proof” without leaving your office requires some very
sophisticated technology for display. After all, your monitor has to
exactly match the one at the print shop without some technician making
a house call before each proof. The Display software built into Remote
Director makes this all work, and now we have it in a stand alone
calibration tool for monitors."
After reading this, I believe the patent that I quoted in my last
e-mail was the correct one for this claim. ColorEyes has apparently
licensed the portion of the patent that utilized L* for gamma mapping
and applied it to a single monitor characterization, as opposed to the
whole process of matching multiple monitors through the use of L* gamma
mapping. (Disclaimer: I haven't read it thoroughly, so I may be
mistaken. Please don't take what I say for the truth. Read the patent
for yourself if you want further details!)
