In this case a digital SLR, raw image interpolated to an image in linear
native color space using Dcraw. Could be a scanner as well, the trick is to
get the linear raw data out of the scanner. I think it can be done with
Silverfast and Vuescan. As I understand it, any CCD/CMOS based capture
device is linear in nature.
The purpose of this exercise is to stay away from any gamma-coded
colorspaces throughout the workflow.
