As Roger Breton noted in a message to this forum yesterday, the NEC
LCD2180UX looks like a good and reasonably-priced display, and is currently
being bid (new) on eBay for $900, with a "Buy It Now" price of $1,200

I was unable to confirm whether this unit has a 10-bit LUT, as Roger said in
his message. On the NEC URL
(<http://www.necdisplay.com/products/ProductDetail.cfm?Product=353>) there
is no mention of a 10-bit LUT, though the display seems to offer DDC
controls (VESA DDC2B & 2Bi).
