Exactly! Why think in units of ten when it's so much more practical to
divide the inch into 4ths, 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, etc., and to have 12 inches
to the foot and 3 feet to the yard and 5,280 feet, or 1,760 yards, to the
mile? Those are much better numbers to use in calculations than (tsk!) units
of 10!
So the rest of the world uses the metric system! So what? That cannot be
allowed to crimp our country's proud tradition of obdurate exceptionalism in
all things, no matter how self-defeating!
