Roger,
Yes. What NEC sells as SpectraView in Europe was developed by basICColor.
What NEC sells as SpectraView-II in the U.S. was developed by NEC. Both can
calibrate/profile the 2180WG (and other devices).
Both software products can use the EyeOne Pro, Monaco Optic, and other
"standard" devices. But SpectraView-II has the ability to use the
co-branded, re-calibrated EyeOne Display which should give more exact
results than a more generic device like the EyeOne Pro.
One of several interesting features of the NEC software is the averaging
feature in the shadows. It takes multiple readings of each shadow value in
order to reduce errors from a less-precise instrument.
All of this info is from Will and Karl and the user manuals. My 2180WG
order is back-ordered. But I'm hoping that I'll be able to speak from
direct experience shortly.
