Hi Paul -

FWIW, I'm on an old G4 also. Started life as a 466MHz
Digital Audio. Now has a dual 1.8GHz upgrade
processor, 1.5GB RAM, and a SATA Western Digital 10K
Raptor as Boot & Apps (only) disc and a matching
Raptor for scratch on 10.4.2 with CS2. Just for fun I
timed PhotoShop CS2 launch. 7 seconds. Timed twice
more - 7 seconds and 6 seconds. You might want to
look at a couple of pages regarding Storage &
Photoshop acceleration:

Hope this helps.

TB
