I want to set up a quick "color check" system here at work. I am

I ain't about to plunk down nearly 7K for the nice Eizo. Since I am

not trying to perform actual color science here (I just want a demo

room, and a place for my engineers to verify the basic fidelity of

their images), I think that the iMac G5 may be a good compromise.

No need to plunk down $7k on the CG220's. Even their lower FlexScan displays are pretty nice. I also like the LaCie 321 a lot...it is noticeably better than any of the Apple LCD's and comes with a hood. Even the Dell 2005 FWP is a good monitor, and cheap for under $600.

The 20" iMac is nice, but on the basis of it's display alone I'm not convinced it compares to many of the graphics grade LCD's on the market. Out of the box they offer pretty decent color, but require profiling for accuracy. If you don't really need new computers I would spend your money on new LCD's. Any of the monitors I mentioned above should suffice and will be an improvement over your current Photon Blue LCD's.

What exactly do your engineers need this for again?
